Why this course was created?
This course is talking about positional sacrifices. Normally we sacrifice material for an attack, hoping to gain it back immediately. But strong players have mastered the ability to sacrifice material for positional reasons. By positional reasons, I mean a strong outpost, open lines, activation of the pieces, create color dominance, eliminate opponent’s actives pieces etc.
The main idea of the course is to teach you all the above mentioned topics and familiarize you with this new chess ability, to sacrifice material.
The course is essential for intermediate and advance level of players but even if you are a beginner, you can grasp the ideas easily.
Key topics covered in this course
In this video, Asaf Givon will discuss about the first type of the positional pawn sacrifice and it is called clearance of a square.
In this video, we will focus on this topic of color domination.
In this video lesson, we’re going to talk about another aspect of positional sacrifices. This will deal more with the opening type of sacrifices.
In this video, we’re going to talk about some examples where we use positional sacrifices in order to eliminate our opponent’s main active piece or, you can say, his only active piece in some positions.
In this lesson, we will learn how to sacrifice to defuse the opponent;s initiative.
In this video, we will continue to discuss such positions with the emphasis on Petrosian’s games.
In this video, we will continue discussing some positional sacrifices. This time, we’re going to be discussing some cases where we use the Exchange sacrifice in order to create weaknesses in the opponent’s pawn structure.
In this lesson, we are going to be discussing the topic of declining sacrifices by the opponent, or even sometimes sacrificing material ourselves in order to actually defuse the enemy’s initiative.
In this video, I wanted to start off by showing you what I consider to be one of the first examples in chess history of a positional pawn sacrifice
